Kansas City Chiefs

I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t have a good read on the Chiefs.

Kansas City is the same team who lost to the hapless Titans by a lopsided margin in Week 1, while later dominating the Patriots and winning on the road against division rival San Diego. The recent past provides evidence that the Chiefs could be quite good, and they have won four of their last five games with the only loss coming on the road to San Francisco.

With that on the table, the Chiefs do have some personnel issues. Jamaal Charles and Knile Davis are very, very good at running the ball, but Kansas City does not have a single play-maker to speak of at the wide receiver position, and Alex Smith is nothing more than an average NFL starter at quarterback. The other side of the ball has been better, but there are real holes where the Chiefs had suffered injuries, and smoke and mirrors appears to be the theme.

It is tough to argue with 4-3 at this point, but in the AFC West, they must be markedly better to reach the playoff picture.
