NFL QB Power Rankings: Ranking The Starters Through Week 8
No. 12-9
12. Colin Kaepernick – San Francisco 49ers (+2)
Colin Kaepernick moves up a couple spots coming off of their bye after a couple of the QBs ahead of him had setbacks. Kaep’s 63.8% completion percentage, 7.1 “air yards” per completion, 11 TDs to only 5 INTs, and good running numbers make him one of the more dangerous all around QBs in the game. If he ever puts it all together, watch out.
11. Eli Manning – New York Giants (+2)
Eli Manning is the highest rated player on this list that I still have no idea what kind of QB will show up on a weekly basis. His numbers thus far are great, and I’ve seen him play fantastic at times this season. Eli’s problem is that he can also have moments where he looks really bad too. His goods have outweighed his bads thus far, but his position on this list if far from stable, stay tuned.
10. Matt Ryan – Atlanta Falcons (-2)
Matt Ryan deserves credit for playing pretty well considering that if his offensive line loses any more guys to injury Mike Tice may have to suit up and take the field. If you watched the Lions game from London, when his line was stable the offense (and Ryan) was clicking. Once the OL started to get beat the wheels came off. Ryan has the ability to be a top five QB, but you can’t get there on “could”.
9. Russell Wilson – Seattle Seahawks (-3)
I go back and forth from week to week on whether I think that Russell Wilson is one of the most exciting playmaking QBs in all the NFL or a more physically gifted Alex Smith. I know, I know….”HOW DARE YOU COMPARE ALEX “CAPTAIN CHECKDOWN” SMITH TO RUSSELL WILSON!!!!!!” Well, Smith is throwing for 213.7 yards per game and his average completion hits his man 4.1 yards past the line of scrimmage and Wilson is throwing for 212.9 yards per game and his average completion hits his man 4.7 yards past the line of scrimmage. Wilson is a great QB, but I’m just not sure he’s elite yet.
