Miami Dolphins (-2.5) vs. San Diego Chargers

While it’s true that I did label the San Diego Chargers as pretenders, I do think they’re a better team than the Miami Dolphins, especially with Miami being just 1-2 on its home turf.

Furthermore, the Dolphins haven’t beaten a quality opponent since the New England Patriots in Week 1 while the Chargers have hung tough the last two weeks in losses to the Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos.

Philip Rivers is playing some of the best football of his career and he’s got a red-hot target in Antonio Gates to get the ball to. Gates is tied for the league lead in receiving touchdowns with Randall Cobb and Julius Thomas and has been the go-to guy for San Diego’s offense.

Malcom Floyd and Keenan Allen have also been nice complements to the Chargers’ offense, combining for 897 yards and four scores.

Rivers completes 71% of his passes and has thrown 15 of his 20 touchdowns in three wide receiver sets, so look for a lot of those this Sunday in a win over the Dolphins for the Chargers.
