The NFC West showdown between the San Francisco 49ers and the St. Louis Rams is underway Sunday afternoon, and disaster has struck early for the Rams in this one, particularly it has struck to Austin Davis.
In the first quarter of this one, Davis took off and as he was approaching the pressure from the vaunted 49ers defense, he did what every quarterback is taught, and that’s to slide. Well the only problem was, his knee brace got stuck in the turf and he had to leave the game with an injury.
Shaun Hill has since stepped in for Davis at quarterback.
Unfortunately, though, you can just add this to the list of problems with the turf at Levi’s Stadium. While the brand new stadium itself is gorgeous, there have been problems with the turf all year. Whether or not it had anything to do with Davis’ brace getting caught, we don’t know that for sure, but you can’t ignore the coincidence.
We will keep you updated on the severity of Davis’ injury as more information becomes available.
