Chris Bosh Earns Eastern Conference Player Of The Week Honors

Chris Bosh, the Miami Heat big man, earns player of the week honors in the Eastern Conference after a dominant opening week.

Through the first week of the season it appears that Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh is earning his monster 5-year, $118 million contract as he was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week. The forward averaged a double-double in the season’s first week with 25.7 points and 11.3 rebounds per game to go along with 4.0 assists while lead the Heat to a 3-0 record, they are the only undefeated team still in the East . He led the team in scoring, rebounding and minutes played averaging 36 minutes a night over the three games. The big man has also been efficient so far shooting 47% from the field and 54% from the 3-point line. He is the fifth player in Heat history to open the season with three straight 20 point games.

The big man was always the third wheel of the Big 3 in Miami, evident by this being only the second time he has been named player of the week since joining the Heat in the summer of 2010. Over the four years that the Big 3 were together, teammate Dwyane Wade was named player of the week five times, while former teammate LeBron James earned the honor 19 times. This is Bosh’s ninth time receiving the honor in his career.

This has been the best start to a season for Bosh since his last one in Toronto when he averaged over 30 points and 14 rebounds through the team’s first 3 games. With his early outstanding play Bosh is proving why he was so coveted by the Houston Rockets during the offseason and why Pat Riley and the Miami still felt that they could compete for championships despite losing the best player in the world.
