Dallas Cowboys‘ owner Jerry Jones joked that he would kick his own wife out of First Class seating for the team’s flight to London so that quarterback Tony Romo and his balky back could be comfortable.

Tony Romo will make the flight to London with the Dallas Cowboys as they prepare for their week 10 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the third NFL game over at Wembley Stadium this season.

This is good and bad news for the Cowboys. Obviously they would like to have their starting quarterback in action as soon as possible, so the fact that he might be available for this game is a good thing. On the other hand, the idea of a guy with two fractures of the transverse process in his back boarding an overseas flight could be cause for concern.

Most people have sore backs after domestic flights, let alone one to London for somebody already dealing with a serious back injury.

Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones is aware of that concern. He insists that the comfort of a First Class flight will be enough for Romo to be OK. And because this is Jerry Jones we are talking about, he will do anything to make sure Romo is in First Class. Well, almost anything.

As passed along by the Dallas Morning News:

"Owner Jerry Jones has a solution. He’ll bump his wife, Gene, back to coach and give Romo her seat.“Some of those seats really make out into a nice cot, bed-type configuration,’’ Jones said. “He will get one of those. Gene will sit up in the bulkhead. Romo will lounge on the way over.“You don’t think it’d be me, do you?’’"

Gene Jones probably would understand, honestly. She saw Brandon Weeden play in week 9.
