Mark Sanchez-QB-Philadelphia Eagles (0.1%)

Sanchez takes over for Nick Foles and could be the Eagles starter the rest of the season depending on how Foles recovers from his broken collarbone.  Sanchez showed some positive signs for Phily leading them to a road win in Houston completing 15-of-22 passes for 202 yards with a pair of touchdowns and a pair of picks.  He received high praise from Chip Kelly and couldn’t ask for a better situation to step into.

The Eagles secondary is suspect and their up-tempo offense leads to games with plenty of fantasy points all around.  If Sanchez can execute the gameplan, he can be a legit QB option in most formats.  There is serious upside giving him fringe QB1 upside.  He hasn’t ever proven he can be consistent on the NFL level, though, so there definitely is some significant risk involved.

Sanchez has more upside than Palmer based on offensive scheme and matchup, but it does come at a substantial risk.  If you had Foles and Palmer is already taken, Sanchez makes the most sense as his replacement. This week, Sanchez will get an extra day of preparation as he gets ready for the Panthers on Monday night before taking the team to Green Bay in week 11 and then home for week 12 against Tennessee. With those matchups, he’ll have every chance to be a success making him a solid second QB in our week 10 waiver wire pickups.
