Fantasy Football 2014: Top 10 Week 10 Waiver Wire Pickups
Tre Mason-RB-St. Louis Rams (48.5%)
Mason has clearly emerged as the most dynamic back on the Rams, but Coach Jeff Fisher said on Monday that he’ll continue to use a committee approach working in Zac Stacy and Benny Cunningham. Cunningham is a third-down and receiving back, and Stacy seems to be a much inferior option to Mason right now based on Sunday’s workshare. Mason took 19 of the 23 carries that the Rams’ running backs had and finished with a solid 65 yards although he didn’t get into the end zone.
If he continues to lead the committee like that, Mason is definitely a flex consideration and should be able to continue to grow into the Rams full-time back as the season progresses. He still carries some risk based on the fluid workload distribution, but is the only Rams back worth owning and definitely carries the most upside.
The next couple weeks are tough matchups for the rookie from Auburn as he takes on the Cardinals and Broncos, but then things get easier with the Chargers and Raidres in weeks 12 and 13. If Mason is available in your league, he’s probably the best running back out there and a rare opportunity to grab a young back on the rise at this point in the season. He has been up and down in our rankings the last few weeks, but he comes in as the top RB in our week 10 waiver wire pickups this time around.
