No. 12-9

12. Eli Manning – New York Giants (-1)

If you just look at Eli Manning’s final numbers from the Monday night game it looks like he went toe to toe with Andrew Luck, but anyone who watched that game knows that simply isn’t true. Manning padded his totals with a couple of late garbage time TD drives when the game was completely out of range. Manning is still having a solid season, but is short of the top ten at this point.

11. Matt Ryan – Atlanta Falcons (-1)

Ryan slides one spot during his bye week, but the story hasn’t changed. Ryan is putting up solid but not elite numbers and is being handicapped by a brutal offensive line. Until that changes it will be hard for Ryan to challenge the best QBs on this list.

10. Carson Palmer – Arizona Cardinals (+6)

Carson Palmer is this week’s biggest riser, jumping six spots and cracking the top ten. At this point you simply can’t ignore what Palmer is doing anymore. Not only is he the QB of one of the NFL’s top teams, but he’s passing for 277 yards per game with 11 TDs and only 2 interceptions. Palmer has always had the talent, but his tendency to throw interceptions held him back. Now that he’s protecting the football he’s quickly rising up the QB rankings.

9. Russell Wilson – Seattle Seahawks

I continue to have questions about Russell Wilson as an “elite” QB and almost dropped him out of the top ten this week. There’s no denying he has talent, but I think we may have been a little quick to crown him an elite QB. Here’s your weekly Russell Wilson vs Alex Smith comparison.

Wilson: 62.8%, 208.6 yards/game, 5.4 air yards/completion, 11 TDs, 3 INTs, 93.1 rating, 60.9 QBR, -2.9 PFF grade, 393 rushing yards

Smith: 67.1%, 211.5 yards/game, 4.7 air yards/completion, 11 TDs, 4 INTs, 94.8 rating, 57.4 QBR, +3.1 PFF grade, 162 rushing yards
