No. 8-5

8. Tony Romo – Dallas Cowboys (-2)

I’ve got Tony Romo down a couple spots this week because of concerns about his health. The Cowboys continue to say that he’ll play this week, but I have my doubts. If Brandon Weeden starts for the Cowboys he would be ranked at or near the very bottom of this list.

7. Drew Brees – New Orleans Saints (+1)

Drew Brees continues to hang around the top ten QBs but simply hasn’t played well enough to compete with the six QBs ahead of him on this list. I still think Brees is capable of getting hot and reclaiming his spot near the top of the rankings, but right now he continues to be outside of the top tier for 2014.

6. Philip Rivers – San Diego Chargers (-3)

Philip Rivers was making a case to be THE top ranked QB early on in the season, but he’s cooled off a little bit along with his entire team as the Chargers have now dropped three straight. Rivers still has great overall numbers, but I think the slump has knocked him out of the top five for now.

5. Andrew Luck – Indianapolis Colts

If these rankings were simply about piling up the most yards and TDs then Andrew Luck would be the unquestioned number one QB. His 342.8 yards per game and 26 TDs are amazing, but in terms of completion percentage, QBR, PFF grade, etc. he is still behind the top four guys. That having been said, I feel confident that the day will come when Luck is at the top of these rankings.
