After nearly a half hour of scoreless play following the restart, John Pajoy scored the equalizer for Puebla despite La Franja being a man down — Mauricio Romero was sent off in the 68th minute following his second yellow card of the match.

The joy was for Puebla was short-lived.

Santos Laguna went right back on top five minutes later when Nestor Calderón bagged the second goal of the match for his club following a beautiful chip over the defense by Carlos Darwin Quintero.

Puebla had countless opportunities in the closing minutes of the match with consecutive corner kicks, but they were unable to find the back of the net despite their numerous chances.

That all changed in the 89th minute, however, as Puebla was able to even up the score with a bounce in their favor off of the crossbar following a shot from Luis Noriega.
