Nike Gets Save In Brittney Griner Attack
By Scott Allen
WNBA and Phoenix Mercury star Brittney Griner credits her Nike jacket for saving her life
A life saved and a jacket lost. That is what took place this week in China as Phoenix Mercury center Brittney Griner was attacked by a man with a knife. She just suffered a minor injury in the attack but her jacket did not come out of the incident so lucky.

Griner was barely cut by the knife and did not require any medical attention at a hospital. Her Nike jacket though was cut up and is apparently a loss. If a lost jacket is all she suffered though then she should consider herself very lucky. She is in China playing with the Beijing Great Wall in the Women’s Chinese Basketball Association during the WNBA offseason.
Griner seemed to shake the incident off, which took place as she was boarding her team bus. She did take the time to thank Nike via Twitter though for the nice jacket that she no longer can keep, saying she was happy to have had it on during the attack.
Griner had a great 2014 regular season and playoffs. During the regular season she averaged 15.6 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 3.8 blocks per game. During the playoffs she averaged 16.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 3.4 blocks per game. For her two-year career she has averaged 14.3 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 3.4 blocks per game. That is led her to being a two-time all-star.
Maybe Nike should change their slogan from “Just Do It” to “Just Saved It”? Just a thought.
