No. 16-13

16. Ryan Tannehill – Miami Dolphins (+1)

Ryan Tannehill continues a steady climb up these rankings as his play has continuously improved as the season has gone on. However, I wonder how the loss of his left tackle Branden Albert for the rest of the season will effect him going forward. His improved offensive line was one of the biggest justifications for raised expectations this season. A match up with a great Buffalo defensive front this week will be a big test.

15. Alex Smith – Kansas City Chiefs (+1)

I have tried SO hard not to repeat the cliche “Alex Smith is a winner” take that so many others always go to, but it’s 100% true. Smith refuses to do anything to lose his team the game and has enough grit and smarts to get the job done. Despite getting sacked six times against Buffalo he lead the Chiefs back on the road from a double digit deficit and scored the game winning TD. I’m sorry, he wins, he’s a winner, it’s what he does and it may not be original, but it’s true.

14. Matthew Stafford – Detroit Lions (+4)

If there’s one QB in the NFL that I can’t quite make up my mind on it’s Matthew Stafford. Last week I dropped him down the list and now this week he’s back up again. I was impressed with how he pulled out the win against the Dolphins last week. I respect Stafford’s talent, I just don’t trust his consistency. I still think he’s a more personable Jay Cutler, but you have to respect the success he is having with Detroit this season.

13. Joe Flacco – Baltimore Ravens (+2)

Joe Flacco is keeping the Ravens hanging around both the playoff hunt as well as the AFC North division race. He’s not quite top ten caliber, but his Super Bowl run of a couple of seasons ago shows he has it in him. Flacco is clearly a good QB, it’s just a matter if he can consistently be a great QB.
