No. 8-5

8. Drew Brees – New Orleans Saints (-1)

Drew Brees is throwing for over 300 yards per game, completing 68% of his passes, and has thrown 18 TDs so far this season and yet he still doesn’t quite seem like the same QB that was consistently one of the three best QBs in the NFL over the past few seasons. Brees is still a top ten QB, but he’s fallen off the pace of the best QBs in all of football.

7. Philip Rivers – San Diego Chargers (-1)

Philip Rivers slides one spot on his bye week, but is still having one of the better seasons in the NFL. He has dropped off the past few weeks from his early pace so San Diego fans have to be hoping that coming off the bye he’ll recapture some of his early season success. A home game against the winless Raiders this week should help.

6. Tony Romo – Dallas Cowboys (+2)

Tony Romo answered a lot of questions about his health on Sunday with a 20-27, 246 yards, 3 TD day against the Jaguars in London. The Cowboys (and Romo) had been the talk of the NFL before the loss where Romo got hurt and now suddenly people seem to be back to doubting the “Boys” again. Romo is having the best season of his career and if he stays healthy look for him to stay near the top of these rankings.

5. Ben Roethlisberger – Pittsburgh Steelers (-1)

Big Ben is down one spot this week after the Steelers dropped a very winnable game against the Jets. While Roethlisberger’s numbers weren’t bad, great QBs don’t score just 13 points against teams that entered the game 1-8. The Steelers are a really hard team to figure out this season as they have proven that they can beat anyone and lose to anyone and Roethlisberger’s play, while great, is at the center of that inconsistency.
