Quarterbacks

Start: While I wouldn’t expect the rushing yardage his owners enjoyed before his multiplte injuries, Robert Griffin III makes a good QB1 play this week after working through a bye week after his first game back after an ankle injury. He’s in a good matchup for his first home start since week 2 against a Bucs defense that hasn’t held any QB under 200 yards all season and has allowed passing touchdowns in eight of their nine games. In five of their last seven Tampa has allowed at least 300 yards passing and two-plus touchdown passes.  Griffin may not be a QB1 consideration every week, but he is this week against Tampa.  As a QB2, take a look at  Teddy Bridgewater who is also a strong play coming off his bye and taking on the hapless Bears secondary.  Chicago has given up more points to opposing QB’s than any team in the league and Bridgewater has been solid if not spectacular as he has led the Vikings to back-to-back wins over Tampa Bay and Washington.. (last week: Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco)

Sit: In his last three games, Russell Wilson has failed to reach 200 yards passing.  He actually has had more than 201 yards passing just once since the Seahawks bye week all the way back in week 4.  He has kept his fantasy owners happy, though, by picking up big yards and fantasy points on the ground.  In a tough matchup against the Chiefs, In the midst of an up-and-down year, I’d avoid Eli Manning this week as he faces the tough 49er defense that has allowed the sixth fewest points-per game to opposing QB’s. San Francisco has allowed multiple passing touchdowns in two of their last three but those games were against Drew Brees and Eli’s big brother.  Despite what he has said in the past, Eli’s not in those guys league and will probably find it slow going at home against the ‘Niners. (last week: Tony Romo)

Sleeper: The Redskins defense is allowing the second-most fantasy points to opposing QB’s which makes Tampa starter Josh McCown worth a look after he threw for 301 yards and a pair of touchdowns last week against Atlanta in his return to the starting lineup. He’s turnover prone and high-risk, but he could pay off as a last minute gamble for week 11. If you can look past the stench of last week, Andy Dalton is actually in a solid matchup against the Saints and has his weapons back with A.J. Green and Mohamed Sanu.  He should be able to shake off last week’s ugliness and has favorable matchups ahead until a rematch with Cleveland in week 15.  (Last week: Zach Mettenberger, Derek Carr)
