Loser: Indianapolis Colts

Maybe this should read “Indianapolis Colts, except Andrew Luck.” While Luck looked pretty mortal at times on Sunday, this comes back to the same refrain—there is only so much he can do.

The Colts had no running game and the defense was atrocious for most of the match, the run defense especially looking like vintage “hey this is a good week to start any running back going against the Colts in fantasy” mode.

Yeah, it was ugly.

I’ve always had a hard time buying into the Colts as a legitimate contender in the AFC. Not that they won’t or can’t miss the playoffs—between Luck and the pieces they do have, coupled with a poor AFC South, they will. No, there has always been something off about them, even in many of their wins.

Too much inconsistency on defense is most of my issue, though occasional struggles along the offensive line and a sporadic run game also hurt.

The Colts will bounce back—heck, they play Jacksonville this coming week—but it’s hard to take them seriously again this year.

It’s a young team though and with Luck (see what I did there?), they will continue to get better as they age.
