Charles Sims-RB-Tampa Bay Buccaneers (20.5%)

While the numbers haven’t been astounding, Sims has quickly emerged as the lead option in the Tampa Bay rushing attack, and I expect him to get plenty of work over the next several weeks in some favorable matchups which could lead to a late fantasy surge from the rookie out of West Virginia.

Sims only managed 36 yards on his 13 carries on Sunday at Washington and added only eight more on his three catches.  There were two encouraging things, though, that came out of that performance.  First, he didn’t lose any fumbles as he did in his debut against the Falcons the previous week, so that doesn’t look like it will be a continuing issue. Secondly, Sims had eight more carries than Bobby Rainey and looks securely atop the RB depth chart for the coming weeks.  Rainey and Doug Martin will likely serve as change-of-pace options, but the Bucs want to see if Sims can be their back going forward.  He is know for being a good receiving back and should eventually be a primary three-down workhorse kind of option.

The coming weeks do stack up well for Sims with the Bears and Bengals on tap before a tough game in Detroit.  Both the Bears and especially the Bengals have been vulnerable to the run this season, so look for Sims production to increase if he continues to carry the workload for Tampa.  He’s one of the few available options that is the primary lead back for his team, so I think he’s still worth taking a risk on if the other options higher on this list are off the board.
