No. 16-13

16. Eli Manning – New York Giants (-5)

Well, that was ugly. Eli Manning finds himself down five spots this week. That’s one spot for each interception that he threw. While Eli is certainly capable of great play it seems like “Bad Eli” shows up a few games each season. Last week was definitely one of those games. Now it’s time to see how he responds.

15. Matthew Stafford – Detroit Lions (-1)

Confession: I’m not a big believer in Matthew Stafford. I respect what the Lions are doing as a team this season, but Stafford has never really impressed me. A QB with his physical gifts and the best WR in the NFL should be better. Answer me this, why is it that it seems more people are down on Kaepernick throwing the football than Stafford, yet their completion percentage is the same, Kaepernick is actually throwing the ball deeper and has one more TD and four less INTs than Stafford?

14. Ryan Tannehill – Miami Dolphins (+2)

If I asked you which NFL QB’s completions traveled the shortest distance in the air I’m guessing most people would guess either Alex Smith or one of the rookie starters, but currently the answer is actually Ryan Tannehill. His completion percentage and TD to INT ratio are solid, but right now the only difference between Alex Smith and Tannehill is that Smith hands the ball off more since he has Jamaal Charles and Tannehill has thrown more INTs.

13. Alex Smith – Kansas City Chiefs (+2)

Alex Smith is one of the most accurate QBs in the NFL this season with a NFL best 81.1% accuracy score from Pro Football Focus. Despite his “Captain Checkdown” reputation, he’s fourth in the NFL in percentage of passes that go for first downs and he’s only thrown one interception in his last 256 pass attempts. He may not put up a lot of yards, but Smith has been one of the most efficient QBs in the NFL this season.
