6. Walter Davis

11 seasons, 20.5 PPG, 4.4 APG, 3.2 RPG, 1.4 SPG, .520/.280/.841 shooting, 19.6 PER

Like Alvan Adams, Walter Davis statistically peaked in his rookie season when he averaged 24.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.4 steals per game, earning the Rookie of the Year Award and All-NBA Second Team honors. However, it’s not like Davis completely fell off the map after that, averaging 20.5 points and 4.4 assists per game in his 11 seasons with the team. It’s just that he never got any better.

Still, “Sweet D” is one of the purest shooters in franchise history. He shot 51 percent or better from the floor in each of his first seven NBA seasons and earned six All-Star selections and another All-NBA Second Team designation during his time in Phoenix.

Also known as “The Greyhound” for his slender build, Davis is Phoenix’s all-time leading scorer (15,666 points) and he’s also top five in games, minutes, assists, steals and defensive win shares. Recurring back problems and a drug controversy led to a less than savory departure from the Suns, but Davis and the franchise have since repaired their relationship and his No. 6 jersey is retired.
