Fantasy Football 2014: Waiver Wire Week 13 top 10 Pickups
Zach Mettenberger-QB-Tennessee Titans (4.1%)
Quarterback is a hard position for rookies to step right in at and find success enough to merit fantasy consideration. This year, Blake Bortles and Teddy Bridgewater have reminded us of that fact. However, the most impressive rookie QB so far has been the Titans’ Zach Mettenberger who has quietly put together some off-the-radar production that makes him fantasy relevant.
Mettenberger has thrown a pair of touchdowns in each of his last two games while leading the Titans to 24 points in each game against the Steelers and the Eagles. Against Pittsburgh, he threw for 263 yards, and last week in Phily he threw for a career-high 345 yards. He is adjusting to his weapons after getting Delanie Walker back from injury and finding Justin Hunter more often, and he could be primed for a nice end-of-the-season kick.
If you need a widely-available one-week solution, check out Ryan Tannehill who has a good matchup against the Jets this week, but for the rest of the season, Mettenberger has much better matchups than Tannehill so make him your QB2 pickup for the longer term or if you’re desperate in a single-QB league. Mettenberger finishes the fantasy football season with the Texans, Giants, Jets, and Jaguars.
