LeGarrette Blount-RB-New England Patriots (20.1%)

The running back situation in New England is definitely a fantasy-lucrative position, but the drama and transition at the position makes it a tricky one for fantasy owners.  A weeks ago, Jonas Gray was the hot name on the wire after his huge performance in Indy, but the rookie overslept and missed practice resulting in a benching on Sunday against Detroit.  Blount was signed mid-week after being cut by the Steelers and rejoined the Patriots who he played for last season.

It didn’t take long for Blount to make an impact finding the end zone twice against Detroit while piling up 78 yards on his 12 carries.  Blount was an effective runner for New England last season and should continue to get a share of the load in New England.  How big that share is will be the key to his fantasy value and is virtually impossible to predict.  Gray is expected to return against Green Bay in week 13 and Shane Vereen will keep seeing plenty of work in passing situations.

Blount is worth a speculative pickup since he will produce if he gets the carries, but he’s not someone to add to your lineup just yet until we get a chance to see how much work he’ll get on a regular basis.
