No. 12-9

12. Russell Wilson – Seattle Seahawks – Power Ranking Score: 251.2 (-2)

I’ve been saying for weeks that the difference between Wilson and Alex Smith this season is marginal and now they are one spot apart from each other in my first rankings with the new scoring system. Wilson is better on the move when plays break down than Smith is, but this season that’s really about it.

11. Ryan Tannehill – Miami Dolphins – Power Ranking Score: 254.4 (+3)

Ryan Tannehill is slowly climbing up the QB rankings this season. Tannehill did a nice job early in the Denver game but then stalled out late in the game. He’s got a good accuracy percentage and his 20 TD to just 8 INT differential is the eighth best in the NFL. His arrow is still pointing up.

10. Joe Flacco – Baltimore Ravens – Power Ranking Score: 254.9 (+2)

Joe Flacco finally cracks the top ten of these rankings. I don’t think Flacco will ever be viewed as elite, but he’s definitely a franchise guy and worthy for discussion when talking about the top ten QBs in the NFL. I think Flacco, Matt Ryan, Ryan Tannehill, and Russell Wilson make up the second tier of QBs just below the top eight who are truly elite.

9. Matt Ryan – Atlanta Falcons – Power Ranking Score: 261.2

Question for you the reader, at 29 years old and in his 7th season is Matt Ryan ever going to become one of the true elite QBs in the NFL? It’s hard to judge with his horrible offensive line, but Aaron Rodgers has done more with terrible lines in the past. Maybe Ryan is just a solid fringe top ten guy and that’s it. There’s a lot of QBs that would kill to just get this high.
