No. 8-5

8. Andrew Luck – Indianapolis Colts – Power Ranking Score: 286.3 (-4)

While Luck is having an incredibly prolific season, the numbers say he’s still a little short of the other elite QBs, but there’s a significant point jump between Luck and Matt Ryan (25 points). So the numbers say that Luck is clearly in the elite range, but he’s at the bottom of the elite and working his way up.

7. Philip Rivers – San Diego Chargers – Power Ranking Score: 289.8

Early in the season Rivers was playing as well or better than any QB in the NFL. Lately he’s cooled off a little bit (along with the rest of his Chargers team). He’s still one of the best around, but if he and the SD offense can’t break out of their slump he may find himself slipping a few spots by season’s end.

6. Drew Brees – New Orleans Saints – Power Ranking Score: 293 (+2)

The Saints have had an incredibly disappointing season so far in 2014, but it really isn’t because Drew Brees can’t play anymore. Brees is putting up 317 yards per game and has a NFL best 81.3 accuracy percentage. New Orleans has had problems getting in the endzone though, which is why Brees still finds himself outside of the top five.

5. Ben Roethlisberger – Pittsburgh Steelers – Power Ranking Score: 306.1

Big Ben holds steady at the number five spot for this week despite the change with the scoring system. He’s had an incredible season and if not for a couple of inexplicable loses to bad teams people might be talking about Roethlisberger as an MVP candidate.
