3) Detroit Pistons

Things are not going particularly well in the Motor City. The Pistons have lost seven straight, and nine out of ten games, and any preseason illusions of playoff glory have all but vanished.

Detroit is blessed with one of the more talented frontcourts in the NBA, but the fit questions that were somewhat ignored in the preseason have emerged in a big way. Stan Van Gundy’s club is currently portraying the third-worst offense in the NBA, scoring only 97.2 points per 100 possessions, and there have been no signs of tangible improvement for players like Andre Drummond and the walking enigma that is Josh Smith.

Like Charlotte before them, this is a team that has no business being on this list. Still, it is impossible to ignore a 3-13 record that places the Pistons ahead of only the comical Sixers in the Eastern Conference standings. No one believes that the core in Detroit will remain intact moving forward, but not even Stan Van Gundy has been able to produce reasonable results with this group to this point.
