NFC South

Let’s get this out of the way up front – we know this division is awful.

As bad as it is though – and it’s brutal – it’s still up for grabs.

Atlanta is in the front with a commanding four wins, but the New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers are hot on their heels. Technically the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in the hunt as well, even with just two wins.

My stomach just lurched as I typed that last sentence.

Only one of these teams is making it into the playoffs to be fed to the grinder in the first week of games, and at this point it’s anybody’s ballgame.

The Falcons face a hard task in the form of the Arizona Cardinals, while the Saints are in Pittsburgh to face the Steelers and Carolina heads to Minnesota to take on the Vikings. Since we’re talking about everybody, Tampa Bay is playing Cincinnati and the only thing which is in doubt about that game is whether the Bengals remember to show up as too many times this season they have stumbled when they shouldn’t.

There is no easy game on the horizon for these teams and this division will probably come down to Week 16 (Atlanta vs. New Orleans) and Week 17 (Atlanta vs. Carolina).

All we can do is hope one of them makes it to .500.
