Loser: Brian Hoyer, Interception Connoisseur

I suppose Brian Hoyer can wave goodbye to the big money contract people though he was going to get early in the season.

We touched on this a few slides ago, but his six interceptions in three games—compared to just one touchdown—is a brutal stat, so it bears further examination.

In his defense, one of his interceptions was not his fault, as Josh Gordon cut off a route before he should have. Still, Hoyer has made too many bad decisions too many times. He has had moments, when the game was on the line, where he has performed admirably. All too often though, he has struggled and made shaky decisions, sometimes throwing passes that by all rights should have been picked off but weren’t because of a defensive blunder.

He may lose his job to Johnny Manziel, he may not. But it looks as though the romance fans had with him is over and Hoyer is who we thought he was—a really good backup, but not a long-term option.

Bye Bye big contract money – 6 INTs in 3 games, compared to one TD.
