Loser: Arizona Cardinals

Not only are they on a backup quarterback again, but now Arizona has to overcome the loss of running back Andre Ellington. Ellington’s injury was a hip pointer and hopefully won’t keep him out long, but he wasn’t the only player hurt Sunday.

Tyrann Mathieu and Paul Fanaika both were injured, with Mathieu fracturing his thumb and Fanaika getting a high-ankle sprain, per ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss. Weinfuss says Mathieu can play with a soft cast, though it will certainly limit him, but Fanaika’s injury could be more of a problem.

This is just bad timing. With the Seattle Seahawks surging and the San Francisco 49ers by no means out of the hunt, Arizona is having to deal with a lot of injury issues which might end up costing them the division and perhaps a playoff berth.
