Doug Martin-RB-Tampa Bay Buccaneers (42.5%)

If Mason and Herron have already been grabbed, the next best running back option is Doug Martin who reminded fantasy owners exactly why he was viewed as an RB2 coming into the season.  He ran for a season-high 58 yards on his team-high 18 carries on Sunday against Cincinnati and found the end zone for his second rushing TD of the season.

Martin has the potential to be a solid flex option in the weeks ahead if he can hold off Charles Sims and Bobby Rainey who have been rumored to replace him as the lead back multiple times this season.  Martin seems to be the clear workhorse for now and should continue to get more involved in the passing game as well.

The biggest downside to picking up Martin is that this week he has a brutal matchup against the Lions run defense which is among the best in the league.  After his game against Detroit, things get easier for Martin as he finishes up against the Panthers, Packers, and Saints.  This week he’s a desperation play, but he is worth investigating if your week 14 waiver wire has been pretty thoroughly picked through.
