NFL Power Rankings: 30 Best Wide Receivers of All-Time
By Daniel
21. Billy Howton, Green Bay Packers: 66 Points
The Packers of the 1950s were one of the league’s worst teams, but Billy Howton was one of the few bright spots. He was one of the NFL’s top pass catchers at the time and was listed as an end (wide receiver). He put up some great numbers for the Packers and carried on the tradition that the great Don Hutson left when he retired in 1945.
Howton led the NFL in receiving yards twice and receiving touchdowns once in his career. He was invited to four Pro Bowls in his time and was named First Team All-Pro twice with the Packers. Howton is often forgotten when NFL history at the wide receiver position is discussed, but he truly does deserve to be at least mentioned with the all-time greats. He dominated his position from 1952-1957 and there is no debating that.
