No. 8-5

8. Philip Rivers – San Diego Chargers – Power Ranking Score: 288.5 (-3)

Philip Rivers is definitely a top ten QB in the NFL, but his play of late has fallen short of the other QBs ahead of him in these rankings. Rivers has some weapons to throw to and a good offensive mind as his head coach, but I think the lack of a consistent running game may be holding their offense back. Rivers will need to out duel his fellow AFC West QB Peyton Manning this week if he wants to keep the Chargers in the playoff conversation.

7. Andrew Luck – Indianapolis Colts – Power Ranking Score: 290.7 (-1)

Luck may not have had a very good all around game this past week, but the bottom line is that he lead his team to a dramatic come from behind victory. Luck continues to have a fine season but needs just a little more consistency before he claims himself a permanent spot in the top five.

6. Ben Roethlisberger – Pittsburgh Steelers – Power Ranking Score: 300.3 (+1)

Big Ben has had a nice season to date. The emergence of both Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown as true stars at their respected positions have really opened up the offense for him. I’d look for his big numbers to continue this week as the Steelers travel to Atlanta to take on a Falcons defense that has had its share of issues this season.

5. Drew Brees – New Orleans Saints – Power Ranking Score: 300.7 (-1)

Just when it looked like Brees might be back to challenging this year’s big three (Rodgers, Manning, and Brady) both he and the Saints went out and laid an egg against a bad Panthers team. His overall body of work this season is fine, but there are some chinks in the armor that make you question if his days as one of the true elites are over.
