NFL Power Rankings: 30 Best QB’s Of All-Time
By Evan Massey
6. Johnny Unitas
1956-1973
40,239 Yards, 290 Touchdowns, 253 Interceptions
Johnny Unitas is without a doubt one of the most dominant quarterbacks in NFL history, and he put up his numbers when the game simply didn’t revolve as much around the quarterback. He was a longtime member of the Baltimore Colts, and he finished his career with one season in San Diego with the Chargers. Some may not have him this high, but others will agree with this spot.
Throughout his career, Unitas played in 10 Pro Bowl games, and was also named a five-time first team All-Pro. Unitas was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1979. He won one Super Bowl in two attempts, and also won the 1959 and 1967 MVP awards.
Unitas finished his NFL career with a 124-66-4 overall record and a 6-2 postseason record. His best season came in 1959 when he threw for 2,899 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions.
