Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant finally passed all-time great Michael Jordan in career points tonight and Jordan has already commented on Bryants’ amazing feat.

A free throw early in the game against the Minnesota Timberwolves put Kobe Bryant above what some consider one of the best players ever in the career points category. Now only trailing Kareem-Abdul Jabbar and Karl Malone, Kobe is ahead of Michael Jordan.

Bryant, who passed Michael Jordans 32,292 points likely won’t make it passed the other two since Malone would be next on the list at 36,928 points.

So since Kobe has admired Jordan since entering the league at 19 years of age, we all eagerly awaited the response from the man himself. Jordan told the Associated Press:

"“I congratulate Kobe on reaching this milestone. He’s obviously a great player, with a strong work ethic and has an equally strong passion for the game of basketball. I’ve enjoyed watching his game evolve over the years, and I look forward to seeing what he accomplishes next.”‘"

That doesn’t exactly sound too much like Jordan, but it’s true. We’ve seen Bryant evolve as a player over his career and seeing how he finishes off what might be his last year could potentially get exciting.

As ESPN mentioned, Phil Jackson coached both players and said in his book that Kobe had always wanted to be better than Jordan. Although there are tons of stats out there that may or may not prove otherwise, for today and forever, Kobe is better than Jordan in points scored.
