NBA: Ranking My Favorite Kobe Bryant Performances
10. One Arm Is All I Need
Date: March 10, 2004 vs. Boston Celtics
Stats: 18 points, 5 rebounds, 10 assists, 3 steals
This game against the Boston Celtics back in 2004 is absolutely one of my favorite Kobe Bryant games. A lot of people will look at the stat line and see the 18 points and 10 assists and say that’s nothing. What most people don’t realize is Bryant played against the Boston Celtics with a dislocated right shoulder. Earlier in the week (Monday) Bryant couldn’t shoot without pain and Tuesday he decided he wouldn’t play.
On Wednesday night five minutes before the game Bryant decided he was going to give it a go. Bryant finished the game with a poor shooting night going 4-for-16 but he got to the free throw line 14 times. This game epitomized the heart that Bryant has, and that nothing is or ever will keep him from playing. Bryant mostly played the game with his left arm because of his injury. It’s games like this that make me appreciate Bryant even more for everything he sacrifices to play the game we each love.
