NBA: Ranking My Favorite Kobe Bryant Performances
7. Kobe Torches the Suns
Date: April 30, 2006 vs. Phoenix Suns
Stats: 24 points, 4 rebounds, 8 assists
This game was one of my favorite Kobe Bryant performances because of everything that Kobe had to do to get into the playoffs. The Los Angeles Lakers came into the 2006 NBA Playoffs as the sixth seed and had to face the second seed, the Phoenix Suns. Regardless of their seeding the Lakers gave the Suns everything they could handle.
In one of the most dramatic moments in Kobe’s career, Steve Nash got stripped at half court by Smush Parker, and the basketball got into the hands of Kobe. As he took one dribble and evaded a defender, Kobe shot a floater at the rim to send the game to overtime. After making the shot Kobe went over and congratulated Smush for doing such an excellent job in coverage. That was a sight to see because of all their turmoil that they had as teammates. In overtime he still dominated as he hit the game winner after taking two dribbles on the right-wing and pulling up on the right elbow.
