No. 24-21

24. Robert Griffin III – Washington Redskins – Power Ranking Score: 183.1

It’s a sad statement of the quality of NFL QBs that I really didn’t feel like any QB deserved to be ranked at this 24 spot. I considered bumping Derek Carr ahead of RG3, but do I really think Carr’s better THIS season? It’s a toss up to me. Sadly, Carr is probably already more consistent, but I still think RG3 has a dynamic upside that few other QBs have. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him shine the final two weeks or absolutely flop.

23. Shaun Hill – St. Louis Rams – Power Ranking Score: 192.1 (-2)

Shaun Hill has been a solid stop gap for the Rams but at this point I’m 100% convinced that they need to look for a new starting QB this offseason. Hill is another guy that’s a great back up to have and that you feel good about starting a few games if your regular starter is out but it’s clear at this point that he isn’t a guy to build an offense around.

22. Kyle Orton – Buffalo Bills – Power Ranking Score: 194 (+2)

So you know the stuff I said about both Josh McCown and Shaun Hill and how they are great back ups but not a true starter to build an offense around? Yeah, just repeat those same thoughts here. The Bills are basically stacked on defense and have some good playmakers on offense too. They just need a QB that can do more than “not lose”. Orton may be the best back up in the NFL, but that’s not good enough if you want to challenge Tom Brady and the Patriots in the AFC East.

21. Mark Sanchez – Philadelphia Eagles – Power Ranking Score: 202.3 (-1)

I really thought that Mark Sanchez would be every bit as good, if not better than Nick Foles, but I think my opinion on that one is starting to change. While I’m still not a huge believer in Foles I think he is clearly the better option over Sanchez. Sanchez has looked good at times but if Chip Kelly wants his offense to really explode on the NFL level he may need to start looking for his own guy. I think it would be FASCINATING to see what would happen if Kelly got his hands on RG3. It probably won’t happen since they are in the same division, but the upside would be huge.
