No. 12-9

12. Ryan Tannehill – Miami Dolphins – Power Ranking Score: 250.4

Ryan Tannehill is still holding steady at number twelve, but I feel like he’s in danger of slipping a little if he doesn’t finish strong these last two weeks. Tannehill has appeared at times to be on the verge of becoming a top ten QB, but he’s just not there yet. I still think he is young enough that he can still get there, but it appears he’ll fall a little short this season.

11. Russell Wilson – Seattle Seahawks – Power Ranking Score: 256.9

I already pointed out how eerily similar Wilson and Alex Smith’s numbers are this season. What wasn’t included in that was how many more yards on the ground that Wilson has contributed. Wilson may just be an average passer at this point, but his ability to extend plays and pick up yards on the ground are as good as anyone else in the NFL. He’ll just have to improve his actual passing numbers if he wants to break into the top ten.

10. Matt Ryan – Atlanta Falcons – Power Ranking Score: 276.9

At this point in his career the 29-year-old Ryan is what he is and that’s a top ten QB that puts up plenty of yards and TDs but is still just a little short of the true elites of the position. He is on pace to challenge his personal best records for both yards and TDs this season. There are several things to fix in Atlanta this offseason, but Matt Ryan isn’t one of them.

9. Philip Rivers – San Diego Chargers – Power Ranking Score: 277.1 (-1)

You can make a case that Philip Rivers was the second best QB in the NFL last season behind Peyton Manning. This season started off much the same way with Rivers throwing for 17 TDs and only three INTs in the first seven games. However, in their last seven games Rivers has an even 10 TDs and 10 INTs. The Chargers still have a reasonable shot at making the playoffs but they need the Rivers from the first half of the season to return in order for that to happen.
