NFL QB Power Rankings: Ranking The Week 16 Starters
No. 8-5
8. Joe Flacco – Baltimore Ravens – Power Ranking Score: 283.1 (+1)
Joe Flacco makes his highest entry in these Power Rankings so far this season. I’m not sure how a Super Bowl winning QB that is playing for a playoff caliber team can fly under the radar, but that’s exactly what Flacco seems to be doing. The biggest surprise for many is the fact that Flacco has the second highest accuracy percentage of all the QBs in the top ten of these rankings.
7. Andrew Luck – Indianapolis Colts – Power Ranking Score: 288.9
Andrew Luck continues to be the most prolific QB this season. He currently leads the NFL in pass attempts, yards, and touchdowns. There is still almost a 20 point gap between Luck and the QB currently ranked ahead of him at number six. That’s mostly due to lower ranking scores, but its clear the future is bright for Luck and it won’t be long until he’s a fixture in the top five of these rankings.
6. Ben Roethlisberger – Pittsburgh Steelers – Power Ranking Score: 307.7
Big Ben has had a fantastic 2014 season. He’s already set a personal best for yards on the season despite the fact that he has two games remaining. He’s only three TDs away from his personal best in that department and he’s currently on pace to set a personal best for completion percentage as well. If the Steelers defense was anywhere near where they were when they won their previous Super Bowls with Roethlisberger then Pittsburgh would be one of the favorites to win it all again this season.
5. Tony Romo – Dallas Cowboys – Power Ranking Score: 309.2 (-1)
I’m not sure most NFL fans appreciate just how productive Tony Romo has been this season. While the run game with DeMarco Murray has definitely taken some of the pressure off, Romo has taken full advantage of the opportunities that he has had. He is actually averaging a TD pass once every 13.6 attempts. For comparison, Aaron Rodgers is averaging a TD every 13.1 attempts and Matt Stafford one every 27.5 attempts.
