NFL QB Power Rankings: Ranking The Week 16 Starters
No. 4-1
4. Peyton Manning – Denver Broncos – Power Ranking Score: 311.5 (-1)
Peyton Manning drops one spot behind Drew Brees in this week’s rankings. Some may object to this based on the records of their teams, but the bottom line is that Manning hasn’t been his usually prolific self of late. In his past three games Manning is only averaging 195 yards passing/game and only has three TDs total over that span. Manning is still one of the league’s best QBs, but this isn’t the same QB that set the league on fire during the regular season last year.
3. Drew Brees – New Orleans Saints – Power Ranking Score: 314.1 (+2)
Drew Brees reclaims a spot in the top three QBs where many would have placed him before the start of the season. Brees is getting hot at the right time and if the Saints can win the division and get into the playoffs don’t be surprised if they knock off a team with a better record in their first game. In comparison to Peyton, Brees has been prolific down the stretch averaging 322 yards/game over his last four games with 12 TDs and only 2 INTs while completing 71.3% of his passes.
2. Tom Brady – New England Patriots – Power Ranking Score: 314.6
Interesting note on Tom Brady, since that humiliating loss to the Chiefs on Monday Night Football Tom Brady has thrown at least two TD passes in every single game and his lowest yards total over that 10 game span is 245 yards. He may have come back down to Earth just slightly over the past few weeks, but he’s still holding onto this number two spot in the rankings for the time being.
1. Aaron Rodgers – Green Bay Packers – Power Ranking Score: 346
Despite having what was without question his worst game in ages (maybe ever), Aaron Rodgers still has a strangle hold on the top spot. He still holds a 30 point lead over Tom Brady in the Power Rankings Score. One game doesn’t change the fact that Rodgers is having one of the best seasons in the history of the position. I think you’ll see him bounce back this week. He’s just too good to stay down for long.
