Theater Showing ‘Team America’ Instead Of ‘The Interview’
By Bryce Olin
In Texas, a movie theater has chosen to show Team America: World Police in place of The Interview
According to the Alamo Drafthouse Movie Theater’s twitter account, they were still planning on showing The Interview prior to Sony pulling the plug on the movie.
But, after Sony’s announcement canceling The Interview‘s release, the theater decided to show another movie equally as offensive to North Korea as The Interview is, Team America: World Police.
For those who haven’t seen the movie or need to be reminded, according to IMDB.com, here is the tagline for Team America:
"Popular Broadway actor Gary Johnston is recruited by the elite counter-terrorism organization Team America: World Police. As the world begins to crumble around him, he must battle with terrorists, celebrities and falling in love."
In the movie, which is played by puppets not actual humans, Team America has to stop Kim Jong-il, the leader of North Korea, from destroying the world.

Team America was released 2004 and created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, two dudes who know a little bit about offending radical groups. Amidst the chaos, Parker and Stone stuck to their guns and kept producing the same offensive material, and, hey, those guys are still alive.
The movie also features some terrific song and dance routines, but they happen to be to explicit to link to. You can find them on YouTube, though.
I’m all for freedom, and this seems like the latest attempt to put down America. Kudos to the Alamo Drafthouse for not letting North Korea and Sony tread on them.
Plus, they’re showing the movie for free!
