In his second NFL start, Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel was scrambling for a first down. As Manziel approached the sideline, he lowered his shoulder and took a big hit from two Carolina Panthers defenders — including linebacker Luke Kuechly. Panthers safety Colin Jones was the other player involved in the hit which drove Manziel into the ground.
Manziel was injured on the play and forced to leave the game.
Brian Hoyer replaced Manziel under center.
After receiving some medical attention on the sideline, Manziel draped a towel over his head and headed to the locker room with the undisclosed injury.
Manziel has a hamstring injury, according to the team. He is questionable to return.
Throughout the first two quarters, Johnny Manziel was having another lackluster performance. The Heisman Trophy winner was just 3-of-8 for 32 yards passing. He added three yards on the ground.
Cleveland had inserted Manziel into the starting lineup in hopes of providing a spark to the offense. So far, he has done nothing but hold them back.
The Browns currently trail the Panthers, 10-3.
