NFL Overreactions Week 16: Lightning Strikes Playoff Chases

Romo Set to Take Home Lombardi Trophy After Being Named Best QB in Cowboys History
There should be no more doubt in Tony Romo being one of the NFL’s elite quarterbacks anymore. Heck, he’s better than one of the greatest who wore the same uniform he did and at this pace Romo will finish his career as one of, if not the, greatest quarterbacks in NFL history.
Romo became the Cowboys all-time passing leader in Sunday’s 42-7 rout of the Indianapolis Colts.
Romo’s 25-yard touchdown pass to, none other than, tight end Jason Witten put Romo at 32,961 as the Cowboys starter, passing Aikman’s 32,942. Overall Romo had a decent day passing, finishing with just 218 passing yards and four touchdowns, putting him at 32,971 for his career after the game and putting Aikman to sleep.
Believe it or not, Romo also has thrown just 109 career interceptions, compared to Aikman’s 141, however Aikman still leads Romo in Super Bowl wins with three.
However in this pass happy era in the NFL, it’s no surprise that Romo passed Aikman. What’s more surprising is how the Cowboys are ready to lift the Lombardi trophy in Arizona on Feb. 1 because of Romo’s play.
When Romo finally does lift the elusive Lombardi trophy that’s been evading him since 2007, he will easily solidify himself as the best quarterback ever in franchise history, putting himself above Aikman and Roger Staubach.
Guess Cowboys fans were right about Romo all along.
