Beckham Still Waiting for League to Send Him Rookie of the Year Award, Takes Anger Out on Rams
Here’s the obvious: New York Giants rookie wideout Odell Beckham Jr. is really, really good. He single handedly has given Giants fans a reason to believe for another Super Bowl run in 2015 the third since 2007 and given other teams a reason to want to beat the hell out of him.
The Rams hit him out of bounds, got under his skin, and then after Beckham helped spark a fight between both teams, he schooled the Rams’ secondary with an 80-yard catch-and-run for a score late in the third quarter.
Beckham finished his day with eight receptions for 148 yards and two touchdowns. Overall in the 11 games he’s played, Beckham has 79 catches for 1,120 yards and 11 touchdowns.
The rookie out of LSU has been outstanding since he finally stepped onto the field in Week 5, missing the first four games to a hamstring injury suffered during camp.
When Beckham officially gets the award he’s already won in a landslide, he’d be the first Giants Rookie of the Year winner since some guy named Lawrence Taylor in 1981, another Giants who changed the game with his speed.
“Absolutely, there’s no doubt about it,” Giants safety Antrel Rolle said on Wednesday before the St. Louis game. “Rookie of the Year, Pro Bowl, you name it. I definitely put him up there right now with the elite receivers in this league, because he’s a threat.”
Beckham, along with the rest of the NFL, the rest of the rookie class and everyone within the sports world is virtually just waiting for NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to finally make a correct move this year and deliver the Rookie of the Year award to Beckham personally before the Giants regular season finale because making everyone wait would just be wrong. Like when the competition shows go to commercial just before the results.
Don’t you just hate when you know what’s going to happen before it happens? Pretty sure Beckham does.
Beckham’s speech at the NFL Honors, when he’ll probably get his award should begin something like: “It’s about time.”
