NFL Standings: Can Houston Texans Make The Playoffs
By Josh Hill
The Houston Texans are still in the playoff hunt at this point with the final week of the season looming large.
Last year the Houston Texans were the worst team in the NFL and they failed to live up to expectations again this year. But their season is not over yet though, as the team who had the No. 1 pick in the 2014 NFL Draft is hoping to make the playoffs on the final day of the regular season.

Can the Houston Texans make the playoffs this year? While it’s still a long shot and they need a ton of help, the Texans making it into the SFC playoff bracket as the No. 6 seed is still a very real possibility.
First and foremost, the Texans need to win in Week 17 and beat the Jacksonville Jaguars. That’s a lot easier said than done but it’s needed for any playoff scenario to play out. In addition to needing a win on Sunday, the Texans need losses by the Ravens and Chargers in order to land the No. 6 seed in the postseason.
So, to recap, the Houston Texans will make the AFC Playoffs If:
- Texans win, AND Chargers, Ravens both lose
Houston owns the tiebreaker over the Chargers, Chiefs and Ravens this season, as all four teams finishing 907 would result in the Texans making the playoffs over everyone. That doesn’t mean the other three teams are out completely though, as the Bengals losing twice would open up a spot for another team to move in with Houston.
That’s asking a lot, but the Houston Texans winning on Sunday did them a lot of favors in keeping their season alive for at least one more week this year.
