Kent Somers of AZCentral Sports is reporting that the Ryan Lindley era for the Arizona Cardinals is over. Again. The Cardinals will turn to rookie Logan Thomas at quarterback with this week.
Lindey, starting in place of injured starter Carson Palmer and injured backup Drew Stanton, was dreadful last night against the Seattle Seahawks. He completed 18 of 44 passes for 214 yards and one interceptions. He was even worse than that stat line suggests.
Thomas was a forth round selection in the Draft (the No. 120 overall pick), and was considered to be a major project at quarterback. He is an excellent athlete at 6’6″ and 250 lbs., but lacked refinement as a passer.
Thomas has played in two games this season, and has completed just 1 pass in nine attempts. That one completion though was an 81 touchdown pass to running back Andre Ellington.
Arizona’s spot in the playoffs is already clinched. Arizona can still win the AFC West and get a first-round bye in the playoff with a win and a Seattle loss to the St. Louis Rams. Seattle lost to the Rams earlier this season. A loss by Arizona and they’ll travel on the road to play a division winner in the opening round of the playoffs.
Thomas will be the fourth starting quarterback used by the Cardinals this season.
