Daniel Orton Starts Straight Up Brawl In Chinese Basketball Game (Video)
By Josh Hill
Former NBA player Daniel Orton is playing ball in China these days, and he’s bringing an old American style the court — street ball style.
Chinese basketball is where former NBA players and college players who just couldn’t cut it go to have a career. It’s not a bad living and the sport is popular enough there that many stars are able to make a living off of playing ball in another country, but sometimes a little bit of American style ball gets mixed in.

Former NBA player and Kentucky standout Daniel Orton has jumped from pro ball in the States to pro ball in China but he’s not going to back down and leave his feistiness Stateside. In a game this week between the Tianjin Ronggang Golden Lions, and Orton’s Sichuan Blue Whales, the former first-round pick got knocked down after a play and decided he was going to start talking with his fists.
Check out video of the fight below, which is just as insane as it sounds:
Orson showed a lot of promise in his college days and there was hope that he’d be able to pan out in the NBA. But he only lasted three seasons with the Orlando Magic after being drafted in 2010 and has been out of the NBA for over a year now.
He may be out in China too, as this sort of thing just isn’t tolerated anywhere basketball is played. You can get your ass kicked for trying this in a pickup street game, and in the NBA this is more than suspension worthy. It’s unclear how Orton or anyone involved in the fight will be punished but this was an ugly brawl that blackens the eye of Daniel Orton’s already busted up career.
