The number of possible Jim Harbaugh destinations is down to two.
When the San Francisco 49ers coach is eventually fired after the NFL regular season comes to a close, Harbaugh will be deciding between a return to college and the Michigan Wolverines or staying in the NFL with the Oakland Raiders, according to Sports Illustrated’s Pete Thamel.
It certainly will be interesting to see how this situation shakes out.
While the 49ers have struggled this season, Harbaugh is no doubt one of the better coaches in the game today, as he led San Fran to three straight NFC championships prior to this year. Harbaugh would represent an enormous get for either Michigan or the Raiders.
In a sense, the decision appears more about whether Harbaugh wants to stay in the NFL or return to college than it is about Michigan and the Raiders.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that Harbaugh is “torn” about the matter.
"49ers HC Jim Harbaugh’s family and friends have been encouraging him to take the Michigan HC job, but he is torn because his heart is in the NFL, per sources close to the situation."
Schefter is also reporting Harbaugh will make up his mind soon after the season ends, so we should get a resolution to this matter shortly.
