No. 16-13

16. Andy Dalton – Cincinnati Bengals – Power Ranking Score: 219.6

Andy Dalton is not a great NFL QB, he is also not a bad NFL QB. His ranking right in the middle at number 16 is about the perfect slot for him. His Total QBR ranks 14th, his PFF grade is 16th, and his accuracy percentage is 22nd. Dalton is a middle of the road starting quarterback, period. The question for Cincinnati is if a middle of the road QB can get them where they want to go once the playoffs start.

15. Matthew Stafford – Detroit Lions – Power Ranking Score: 228.9

Matthew Stafford is a hard QB to rank this season. On one hand, he has lead the Lions to one of their better seasons in recent history. On the other hand, his personal play has been mediocre. He has a negative PFF grade and his accuracy percentage is a little low considering his air yards per completion are down around the “game managers” of the NLF (5.8). For comparison Teddy Bridgewater is at 5.9, Russell Wilson is at 5.8, and Geno Smith is at 5.7.

14. Alex Smith – Kansas City Chiefs – Power Ranking Score: 243.4

Speaking of game managers…..Smith has had another efficient but not prolific season. On one hand, he is one of the more accurate QBs in the NFL and has thrown only six INTs all season long. On the other hand, his air yards per completion are the fourth lowest amongst starters and he’s only thrown 18 TDs (zero to WRs). Smith may be the definition of a low ceiling/high floor QB.

13. Joe Flacco – Baltimore Ravens – Power Ranking Score: 258.1

Just a couple of weeks ago Joe Flacco hit the top ten in these rankings, but now he finds himself down at number 13 on this week’s list. Flacco has good, but not great numbers across the board. While his Total QBR (67.8) and PFF grade (+3.8) may not be up there with the best in the NFL they do keep him within striking distance of the top ten. He’s got one game left to try and get himself there.
