NFL QB Power Rankings: Ranking The Week 17 Starters
No. 4-1
4. Tom Brady – New England Patriots – Power Ranking Score: 312.1
Speaking of aging QBs that aren’t showing signs of slowing down just yet….Tom Brady has been fantastic ever since the entire NFL universe declared him “washed up” early in the season. Since then Brady has led the Pats to a 10-1 record and thrown 29 TDs in those games. The Pats now seem to be the clear favorites in the AFC and that is largely due to the play of Tom Brady.
3. Ben Roethlisberger – Pittsburgh Steelers – Power Ranking Score: 314.9
Despite early concerns that a Todd Haley/Big Ben offense in Pittsburgh may never get on the same page (including Snoop Dogg of all people calling for Haley’s job), Roethlisberger has had his best regular season to date. Despite still having one game to play he’s already set a new career high for yards and is only two TDs away from his best season mark there, and his Total QBR is the highest its ever been as well. Big Ben has earned this top three spot.
2. Tony Romo – Dallas Cowboys – Power Ranking Score: 326.9
Confession: I would have NEVER guessed that Tony Romo could be ranked this high in these rankings. While Romo may not be anywhere near his yardage totals from other big seasons he has never had a season remotely as productive. His Total QBR is actually best in the NFL and a point above Aaron Rodgers. His accuracy percentage is in the top ten despite the fact that he has the longest average air yards per completion (7.0) of any QB in the top ten. Tony Romo has played well enough to silence his critics. Let’s just hope he continues this play in the playoffs or all will be quickly forgotten.
1. Aaron Rodgers – Green Bay Packers – Power Ranking Score: 349.6
While Tony Romo has been fantastic this season, Aaron Rodgers is still the king of the QBs. His Power Ranking Score of 349.6 is still over 20 points higher than the second place QB. Rodgers owns all the other QBs when it comes to his PFF grade (+37) and his TD to INT differential of 36 to 5 is off the charts. There is no debate about who the best QB in the NFL is. His name is Aaron Rodgers.
On the next page is a chart with all 32 QBs and a breakdown of their score so you can see exactly how your favorite team’s QB stacks up in the different areas. I’d love to hear what you think of this ranking system in the comments below.
