Cecil Shorts Throws A Touchdown Pass For Jaguars (Video)
By Phil Watson
The Jacksonville Jaguars are raining on the parade of the Houston Texans Sunday, using a gadget play from Cecil Shorts to take a lead in the third quarter.
The Houston Texans need a win and help to make the playoffs. The Jacksonville Jaguars are running out the clock on a fourth-straight season with double-digit losses.
But the Jaguars have proven feisty at NRG Stadium in Houston Sunday, taking a lead into the fourth quarter thanks to some gadgetry.
After the defense forced a turnover when Chris Clemons forced a fumble while sacking Houston quarterback Case Keenum, the Jaguars dialed up a trick play.
Blake Bortles threw a lateral to wide receiver Cecil Shorts in the flat. Shorts rolled back toward the middle of the field and found a wide-open running back Jordan Todman down the right side for an easy touchdown.

The score put Jacksonville up 17-14 with a chance to win consecutive games for the first time since Weeks 12-14 of the 2013 season, when the Jaguars won three in a row.
Shorts has now thrown for as many touchdowns as he has caught this season. It was his second pass of the season and he is now 2-for-2 for 32 yards and a touchdown.
On the other end of the passing equation, Shorts had 48 receptions for 510 yards and a score coming into Sunday’s game.
Houston reclaimed the lead early in the fourth quarter and leads 21-17.
