Brent Grimes & Cameron Wake

The strongest aspect of the Miami Dolphins this year wasn’t their special teams, it wasn’t their offense, it wasn’t even their leadership, it was the defense.

The defense of the Dolphins kept the team in most of the games they played in and were responsible for a lot of the success the Dolphins shared. Even though there were times where the defense failed to make crucial stops to win games, as they did when the Dolphins faced the Green Bay Packers, Detroit Lions, and Denver Broncos, they still played consistent the entire season.

The best player on the Dolphins defense is defensive end Cameron Wake. Most South Florida fans knew that Wake was a great player, and the fact that he put pressure on the opposing quarterbacks routinely was one of the biggest reasons why the Dolphins were ranked top five in pass defense.

Another huge reason why the Dolphins had such a great pass defense was because of the play of their cornerback Brent Grimes. Standing only at 5’10 Grimes was never overmatched by any receiver. Whether he faced against Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffery, Calvin Johnson, Jordy Nelson or Demaryius Thomas, he never got exposed.

On another note, these two players made the 2014 NFL Pro Bowl.

Congratulations.
